My Favourite: Annie’s Chair

Great book to teach the concept of sharing
Annie was boiling mad.  Someone was sitting in her chair!  ‘No one is allowed on my chair!’
Taken from the blurb on the back.

Today I thought I would share with you one of our favourite childrens books, Annie’s Chair by Deborah Niland.  It is one of those books that the kids are continuously bringing out to read at bedtime.
When I am looking for new books to read with my kids, I try to find one that is relevant to their lives, something that they can relate to or may be interested in.  I also like a book that teaches my kids about something morally; Annie’s Chair is a great book to learning about the concept of sharing.

Without giving too much of the story away it is about a young girl in a predicament where someone was sitting in her favourite chair and she wants it back!  The story takes you on her journey of learning to share, the emotions involved and a positive outcome in the end.  It is a situation that many young children can relate to and the message of sharing is portrayed in a funny and warming style.

Annie’s Chair is an adorable book with the most gorgeous illustrations.  If you are looking for a book that will encourage a discussion and learning about feelings or facial expressions, then this book is perfect.  It is filled with different emotion and the most  fabulous illustrations of the characters facial expressions.
Annie’s Chair won Book of the year in the Early Childhood category by the Children’s Book Council of Australia.
I love this book, it is definitely one of my favourites!
 Thanks for reading!
