Zesty Lemon Scented Play Dough Recipe

This Zesty Lemon Scented Play Dough has a refreshing and zesty lemon scent which adds to the wonderful sensory experience of playing with play dough. This recipe was developed from a basic paly dough recipe with added lemon essence. It will provide hours of fun while tantalising the senses.

What you will need?

Zesty Lemon Scented Play Dough Ingredients

1 cup plain flour

1 Tablespoon oil

200ml Water

50ml Lemon Essence

½ cup salt

2 Teaspoons cream of tartar

1 Teaspoon of yellow food colouring

How to make it?

Pour all dry ingredients, flour, salt and cream of tartar together in a saucepan.
Add oil, food colouring, lemon essence and water to dry ingredients.
I use a whisk before heating as I find this helps remove lumps and blends the ingredients well.
Cook over medium heat constantly stirring until it becomes a thick blob.
Then turn out onto a clean surface and knead into a smooth blob.
Allow the play dough to cool before playing with it.
Store in a plastic zip lock bag or air tight container.

Tip: If the play dough turns out a little sticky, sprinkle a small amount of plain flour onto the bench and knead until smooth and combined.

Sweet Apple Scented Play Dough is a beautiful textured play dough that smells just like an apple, adding to the wonderful sensory play experience. The apple scent comes from adding apple fragrant shampoo to a basic play dough recipe. The shampoo creates a soft and smooth the play dough feel soft and smooth and great for manipulating.

What you will need?

Sweet Apple Scented Play Dough Ingredients

1 Cup Plain Flour

2 Tablespoons Oil

200ml Water

50ml Apple Fragrant Shampoo

½ Cup Salt

2 Teaspoons Cream of Tartar

Red Food Colouring (continue to add until desired colour is achieved)

How to make it?

Pour all dry ingredients, flour, salt and cream of tartar together in a saucepan.
Add oil, shampoo, colouring and water to dry ingredients.
I use a whisk before heating as I find this helps remove lumps and blends the ingredients well.
Cook over medium heat constantly stirring until it becomes a thick blob.
Then turn out onto a clean surface and knead into a smooth ball. Be careful the play dough will be very hot!
Allow the play dough to cool before playing kneading in the flower petals.
Store in a plastic zip lock bag or air tight container.

Minty Candy Cane Scented Play Dough Recipe

This Minty Candy Cane Scented Play Dough is wonderful play dough for the kids to play with this Christmas. It has a blend of peppermint essence to mimic that of a candy cane which we all love at this time of the year. It is also coloured green and speckled with red glitter for a Christmassy colour theme.

What you will need?

Minty Candy Cane Scented Play Dough Ingredients

1 Cup Plain Flour

1 Tablespoon Oil

200ml Water

50ml Peppermint Essence

½ Cup Salt

2 Teaspoons Cream of Tartar

Green Food Colouring

Tablespoon Red Glitter

How to make it?

Add oil, food colouring, peppermint essence and water to dry ingredients.

Jelly Play Dough Recipe

Jelly Play Dough is an easy play dough to make and by adding some jelly crystals to a basic play dough recipe creates a smooth, soft and creamy textured play dough.

Depending on what flavour jelly you add to this recipe will depend on the colour and scent of the play dough. For this recipe I added Passionfruit flavour which created a beautiful fruity tropical scented yellow play dough.

What you will need?

1 cup plain flour

1 tbsp oil

1 cup warm water

½ cup salt

2 tsp cream of tartar

1 85g Packet Jelly Crystals (Jello)

How to make it?

Pour all dry ingredients, flour, salt and cream of tartar together in a saucepan.
Add 85g packet to warm water and stir until mostly dissolved.
Add jelly water and oil to dry ingredients.
I use a whisk before heating as I find this helps remove lumps and blends the ingredients well.
Cook over medium heat constantly stirring until it becomes a thick blob.
Then turn out onto a clean surface and knead into a smooth ball. Be careful the play dough will be very hot! Use a little bit of flour if the play dough is sticky.
Store in a plastic zip lock bag or air tight container.

Scented Spring Play Dough has a beautiful smelling fragrance of flowers and flecks of coloured flower petals to bring together some of the wonderful elements of spring time.

The play dough has been scented with shampoo that has a hint of flowers essence which also gives the play dough a soft and smooth texture. The coloured flower petals create a wonderful texture to heighten the sensory element of playing with play dough.

*Please note that this play dough cannot be eaten as it contains soap*

You will need?

1 cup plain flour

2 Tablespoons oil

200ml Water

50ml Shampoo (we used Herbal Essence for the scent of flowers)

½ cup salt

2 Teaspoons cream of tartar

¼ cup Flowers Petals

How to make it?

Pour all dry ingredients, flour, salt and cream of tartar together in a saucepan.
Add oil, shampoo and water to dry ingredients.
I use a whisk before heating as I find this helps remove lumps and blends the ingredients well.
Cook over medium heat constantly stirring until it becomes a thick blob.
Then turn out onto a clean surface and knead into a smooth ball. Be careful the play dough will be very hot!
